Burglars caught in the act

September 28th, 2010 · No Comments

Some burglars didn’t get very far after breaking into a U-District residence.  Police were called to the 5600 block of 8th Ave NE around 6:45pm this past Saturday (9/25).  The victim arrived home and saw 3 people running out of the residence.  The dispatcher relayed a description of the thieves and police were able to track down two suspects at the intersection of Ravenna and Roosevelt.  The homeowner identified the two men and they were arrested.  No word on what happened to the third burglar.  You can read the full police report below.

Officers Brown, Smith, Act. Sgt. LeBlanc and I were dispatched to 5600 block 8th
Ave. N.E. to investigate a residential burglary that had just occurred.
The dispatcher stated that the victim had arrived home and three suspects
had run out of the residence. The dispatcher provided the description of
the three suspects along with their direction of travel.
Upon arrival, Officer Brown located two males matching two of the burglary
suspects’ description at N.E. Ravenna Blvd. and Roosevelt Way N.E. I
picked up victim #1 and transported her to Ravenna/Roosevelt where she
positively identified both males that had been inside her residence.
Victim #1 also saw a green backpack that suspect #1 had been carrying and
she said it belonged to her daughter (victim #2). The arrestees were
placed under arrest and Officers Brown and Smith transported them to the
North Precinct. Acting Sgt. LeBlanc screened the arrest and the arrestees
were later transported by the prisoner transport officer to YSC for
booking. Officer Smith called YSC and screened the arrests.
