Panhandler turns violent, threatens couple with a knife

December 30th, 2010 · 5 Comments

What started with a request for money turned into a frightening experience for a couple on Christmas Eve.  Seattle Police say a man and woman were pulling out of a parking lot near University Way and NE 50th around 1:30pm when a panhandler blocked their path and asked for money.  After the couple waved him off, the panhandler kicked the car twice.

The man in the car got out and tackled the panhandler.  That’s when the panhandler pulled out a knife and charged the man.  No one was cut, but the panhandler did use the knife to pound the car before he ran away.  The male victim followed the panhandler and called 911 giving police updates on his location.  The panhandler was later arrested and booked for investigation of robbery.
