U District church getting new pastor

March 30th, 2011 · No Comments

University Temple United Methodist Church (1415 NE 43rd St) is getting a new pastor. Reverend Rich Lang is moving to the church after 11 years at Trinity United Methodist in Ballard. “The reason I’m leaving is that Trinity needs a new leadership style to help it evolve into its potential, and I will go to another church that is aging, that has lost its direction and is experiencing decline,” Lang says. “I think God has called me into a ‘raising the dead’ type ministry. Trinity is no longer dead. It has come fully alive!”

Rev. Lang is very outspoken about homeless rights. In 2008 he was arrested during a protest at Seattle City Hall.

His first day at the pulpit will be Sunday, July 3rd.
