Husky Film Night

May 11th, 2011 by master

UWTV and the Seattle International Film Festival are teaming up to provide a special (and free) opportunity to UW students and the U-District community to preview some of the 400 films featured at the annual film festival. “Husky Film Night” will allow students and visitors to review trailers of specially selected films, many of which will be screened nearby at the U-District’s Neptune Theatre. A panel of programmers from SIFF will also discuss how and why films were chosen for the festival, and how filmgoers can find movies that interest them.

“Husky Film Night” will take place Monday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in Kane Hall’s Walker-Ames room on the 2nd floor. Attendees will have the chance to enter to win free tickets to SIFF screenings and students can also purchase specially priced ticket packages on site. You’ll also find additional information about all the films and events that are part of the three-week long annual film festival.

Possible improvements for U-District park

May 10th, 2011 by master

Seattle Parks wants neighborhood input about potential improvements to Christie Park in the U-District.  They’ve created a survey to collect citizen feedback about the current use of Christie Park and future park and recreation needs.

The Parks and Green Spaces Levy, passed in November 2008, provides funding for a variety of acquisition and development projects. The levy identified the University District Urban Center Village for a potential neighborhood park acquisition-such as an addition to Christie Park.

If you don’t know about this park, it’s located at NE 43rd St. and 9th Ave. NE offering grassy areas to picnic and a basketball half-court.  You can take the survey here.
