From the SPD Blotter:

On June 16th, at approximately 5:45 PM, an 87 year old man pulled up in front of his residence in North Seattle and assisted his wife into the house. When the victim returned to his vehicle, an unknown male approached him and told him that there was something wrong with his car. The suspect offered to fix the car. After retrieving a wrench from the victim’s trunk, the suspect faked a repair and then demanded money from the victim for payment. The victim refused to pay. The suspect reached over the victim’s shoulder and removed the victim’s wallet from his back pocket. The suspect then fled in a black Dodge Charger, driven by an unknown female.

Detectives followed up on information developed during the investigation and identified a suspect. Early this morning, North Precinct officers located the 19 year old male suspect in the University District inside an apartment. The suspect ran out the back and jumped off a deck to escape the officers, but was taken into custody a short distance away. He was later booked into the King County Jail.
