Latest on 15th Ave NE project

December 21st, 2010 by master

SDOT tells us they still plan to start work on the 15th Avenue NE reconstruction project during the first week of January.  The work will take place between NE Pacific Street and NE 45th Street.

Here are some things to keep in mind once construction begins:

  • The roadway will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction on weekdays.
  • On weekends, the roadway will be reduced to one lane northbound only. Southbound lanes will be closed at NE 45th Street and southbound traffic will be detoured via Brooklyn Avenue NE.
  • Work will be ongoing until the beginning of June 2011.
  • Parking will be intermittently prohibited on the intersecting streets as work progresses.
  • Bus stops along 15th Avenue NE will be consolidated, and transit agencies will communicate any route changes to customers directly.
  • Nearby residents and businesses should expect noise, dust, and nighttime light impacts.

15th Ave NE facelift open house this Wednesday

December 6th, 2010 by master

Here’s a reminder that SDOT is inviting the neighborhood to attend an open house this Wednesday (12/8) to learn more about the 15th Ave NE reconstruction project.   The event takes place from 4pm to 7pm at the University Heights Community Center.

Starting in January, SDOT will rebuild 15th Ave NE between NE Pacific and NE 50th with new concrete pavement. It will also resurface the roadway between NE 50th and NE 55th streets. The project will feature new curb ramps, wider sidewalks at bus zones, a new marked crosswalk at NE 41st Street, and a new northbound left turn lane at NE 42nd.
