50 North opens in the U-District

December 28th, 2010 by master

The owner of the well known Hardware Store Restaurant on Vashon Island has officially opened a restaurant in the U-District. A few months ago, we first reported that Melinda Sontgerath and her husband Dick applied for a liquor license at the old Fondi Pizza location. Now, 50 North has opened at 5001 25th Ave NE.

The menu features organic salads, Lahvosh ‘Pizzas’, all-natural burgers and steaks, seafood, vegetarian entrees, Gluten-free entrees and desserts.  In a press release, Sontgerath says she chose the U-District because “this area is a hub for so many Seattle students, professionals, and families. Whether they are joining us for a meal or just dropping by for take out, I think they will find this location to be convenient and comfortable – a U-District gathering place.”

September 28th, 2010 by master

The owner of the well known Hardware Store Restaurant on Vashon Island is opening a restaurant/lounge in the U-District.  Melinda Sontgerath and her husband Dick have applied for a liquor license as they open 50 North.  The establishment will be in the Northcut Landing complex at 5001 25th Ave NE, apparently in the space vacated by Fondi Pizza.  We’re not sure what type of food 50 North will be offering, but we have a call in to the owner to find out more.
